La Gaffe offers the sort of food that you've often wanted before and hope very much that you'll be having again. The food came quickly and is was beautifully presented. The tricolore Gaffe - I've never seen this dish look so damn good.

Friendly Italian conviviality - as popular with locals as with the guests!

Another find, this is a short walk from the Hampstead tube stop. Italian Bernardo Stella has been welcoming the same guests back to these early 18th-century shepherds' cottages for more than a decade. The popular wine bar and restaurant, which (naturally) serve Italian food, are yours to lounge around in at all hours. Between the two "wings" is a raised patio for summer, and each room has TV and phone. You'll love the place if you're a fan of quaint.
